Scofield Tri 2010

Attention all SUTC members, be on the lookout for a few escapees! Congratulations to all the SUTC members who competed in the 2010 Scofield Tri. The Scofield Tri is composed of four distances: Kids, Sprint, Olympic and Escape. The Escape being composed of a 1.7 mile swim from an island, a ruthless 40 miles bike ride of which most of it is climbing (feel like doing Sand Hollow hill for 20 miles or so? Wait that would be easier.), followed up with a 10 mile run. Oh yeah don't for get to do it starting at 7,739 feet of elevation. The Escape makes all other halfs look like a walk through the daisys.

Weather was good for the Scofield Tri, slightly warmer, but overcasted for most the day. One of the neat things about this Tri is the opportunity to camp with family and friends. The camping was great and so was the tempratures at night. This is a great family oriented triathlon. The following is a list of notable finishers.

Utah Summer Games Tri 2010

Well we had another great day in Southern Utah for a tri. I think we are on a streak now for good weather events.

Congratulations to all the tri club members who came out and helped team SUTC dominate the podium! We had a total of 31 members race with 21 members earning medals. WOW! Great Job SUTC! For those of you who didn't medal, most of you were really close. Keep coming to the workouts as it is a great way to learn, train, have fun and stay motivated towards your personal goals. Showdown at Sundown 2010

Here are some pics, highlights and standings from the Showdown at Sundown at Lake Las Vegas. This race offered Sprint, Olympic and Half Iron distances. We had club members participating in the Olympic and the Half Iron. The day was SUPER windy and SUPER fun!

Breanna Nelson took 1st place Overall Female in the Olympic distance with a time of 2:32:08! Way to go Breanna!

Jason Wells put in a great race with a total Half Iron distance time of 5:45:58. Here he is still smiling on the bike!

Matt Bracken placed 3rd in his age group with a total Half Iron time of 5:18:59. Don't forget to support Matt in his St. George Ironman fundraising competition, raising funds for Limbs for Haiti.

And lastly, I managed to grab 1st place in my age group with a total time of 5:53:35. My husband was able to get some great swim shots from the spectator-friendly shoreline.

Tri Club members were all over the standings in this race! We had a fun, slightly chilly race day that I think most everyone who participated would call a success. The kids also had a great time participating in the kids' fun run. Here are the results:

TT Bike or Road bike for the St. George Ironman?

We have a tri club member wondering whether it would be better to ride a Tri bike or a Road Bike for the St. George Ironman. This is not the first time I've heard this question. The hills in this race course are making many triathletes think twice! Please leave a comment with your opinion and/or answer the poll! Thanks!
